About us
An initiative in mindful design, Living bySalt visualises spaces and experiences to be more intuitive and human-centric in order to elevate the lifestyles of its inhabitants. Our approach to designing is tempered with subtlety as we believe design should direct but never dominate a space resulting in an experience that is harmonious above everything else.
The bySalt studio designs in response to the lifestyle of our users - these lifestyles are a sum of the one they have right now and the one they can have through our design.
Our Philosophy
Informed by anomalies, our design process welcomes natural processes and human errors instead of shying away from them. In fact, our very idea of achieving a visual balance lies in introducing at least one disruptive element that adds a pinch of unpredictability.
This helps us design spaces and experiences that grow on our inhabitants instead of falling into the background. The goal is for them to love the space they are in even after years pass. This means that our design process is ingrained in what is timeless instead of what is trendy.
Our idea of achieving a visual balance is to disrupt. We like to be notoriously intuitive and introduce elements of contrasting nature .
“Design is to life, as salt is to food.”
— Shaili Kastia, Founder & Principal Designer
Shaili Kastia is the founder and creative head of bySalt, leading it with a vision of human-centric design that focuses on creating an experience for its users. This involves an approach that is informed by mindful observation, attention to detail, and reading “between the lines”.
A graduate of School of Interior Design, C.E.P.T. University with hands-on experience at The Busride Studio, Shaili Kastia has developed her own design language over the years which has people and their lives at its centre. She believes that design can change how people live and that is a power and responsibility in itself.
